As one of the five major industries in modern fisheries, the development of recreational fisheries aligns with the people’s aspiration for a better life and the direction of modern fisheries development. Recreational fisheries represent a new business model and new format emerging in this new stage of economic development; they are an important pathway for ecological industrialization, industrial ecologization, integrated industrial development, and boosting fishermen’s incomes.
In recent years, Hebei Province has taken the lead in piloting and actively seized upon and leveraged relevant policies to promote structural adjustments in the fisheries industry. By developing the “Fisheries Plus” model, recreational fisheries have maintained strong growth momentum and have become a major highlight in the development of the fisheries sector.
Recently, five of the 15.5-meter recreational fishing vessels built by Hua Yao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of Qinhuangdao Yaohua Equipment Group Co., Ltd., for Qilihai Fishery Town have been completed and delivered to customers for operation. These vessels represent the first batch in Hebei Province to have undergone approval, construction, inspection, and officially entered service since the province initiated its plan to upgrade and transform fiberglass fishing vessels and develop recreational fishing vessels.
The vessel has a total designed length of 15.5 meters and a molded beam of 4.2 meters, with a maximum speed of 15 knots. Its hull is constructed from fiberglass, offering advantages such as lightweight construction, high strength, and long service life. Both the hull and its structural components are made using high-quality marine-grade resins and fiberglass, featuring excellent hydrodynamic lines, an attractive exterior design, and enhanced comfort and safety. This fiberglass recreational fishing boat boasts fast cruising speed, strong maneuverability, flexible handling, and reliable performance. It is equipped with professional leisure and entertainment equipment and is ideally suited for coastal waters, where it can be used for recreational fishing, cargo transportation, and experiential net-casting fishing activities.
Developing recreational fisheries is a crucial initiative aimed at guiding fishermen to “move ashore, venture into deeper waters, and embrace recreational fishing.” The 15.5-meter recreational fishing vessel built by the company has been successfully launched, providing a strong boost to accelerating the development of recreational fisheries in Hebei Province.
